I am a computer professional with three computer books published, including one on database design.Have you ever wished you could find all those e-mails between you and your client Joe, say during August and September of last year that also include the word “contract?” Now you can - and you can sort them, print them, save them and export them in several standard formats. From the perspective of an expert on database design, I regard Mail Archiver X as a fully functional, well-designed database app for email archiving. I have found it to be bug-free, fast and straightforward to use. From the perspective of a user of Mail Archiver X, I am fully satisfied. I have several email accounts for professional and personal use, and organize them all into folders and subfolders within Apple Mail. Apple Mail is unwieldy for more than a year’s worth of emails, so I need an archive solution to hold multiyear emails. In 2018 I switched from Mail Steward to Mail Archiver X and recreated my multiyear email archive in Mail Archiver X from scratch, without a hitch. I particularly like that (in contrast to Mail Steward) Mail Archiver X retains my folder organization of my emails, so that I can find any emails from any year within moments. I also like that Mail Archiver X offers precise control over what gets archived and where. This app does everything that I need, and I have no suggestions. With a home-based business, it was important that we have a reliable means of archiving large quantities of emails and related attachments as a safeguard against data loss or corruption. While our search for a solution to our problem based on the Mac OS found a few options, Mail Archiver demonstrated the ability to create complete archives of both local and web-based email accounts along with related attachments across multiple email platforms. Our concern was that Mail Archiver would not adequately perform as needed. Thus, it was greatly appreciated that we were given a chance to fully try the software without features crippled on a trial basis. I am pleased with the results and now have confidence that our emails are completely safe. The reports and status updates during the archiving give me good feedback that the application is performing as expected. Contact with the developer and prompt support were a definite plus. Additionally, a strong search feature and the ability to view emails and attachments from the actual archive were a surprising bonus. My need was simple - I wanted a convenient way to have a searchable backup archive of mail messages. I have many important messages that need to be saved for record keeping purposes and I didn't want them piling up in my email application. While I didn't evaluate trial versions of other software I did do a thorough review of possible applications. Mail Archiver looked like it fit my requirements so I purchased the software. I had no initial concerns and the few times I had issues I received a very prompt reply from Moth Software. Usually the issue had to do with my misunderstanding. While I was working, Mail Archiver let me immediately find correspondence that I needed. Since I've retired, my use is more casual and less frequent but I continue to find it convenient to keep records of mails I might need in the future. I like the simplicity - After a straight forward set up for scheduled backup, I can basically ignore the app until I want to look up something. I enjoy my occasional interactions with Moth Software. I find the responses personal and it shows the level keen interest in their customers.Ībout half of my email correspondence had information about professional, business or volunteer activities that required preservation. ![]()
